Director's Public Report

October 1, 2013

Dear Supporters, Donors, Advisors, and Volunteers,

Thank you for your continued support. It's been a good quarter for the International Arcade Museum Library and our momentum continues to grow on a number of fronts.

Support From KLOV/VAPS Forum Members!

Traditionally, a large portion of the fiscal support for the Library has been due to the encouragement of the (independent) International Arcade Museum (IAM) and its KLOV/VAPS Forums and the respective supporters and management of each. The IAM has encouraged members that have enjoyed its offerings to support the Library fiscally. Increasingly, the Library is gaining support (volunteer time and fiscally) from outside the immediate IAM community. This is a good sign and bodes well for the Library's future.

Digitization Project

The Library is currently working on a number of digitization projects. Additionally, our Digitization Committee has added new members this quarter, including renowned pinball and coin-op historians Rob Hawkins and Brad Merchant.

It is the goal of the Digitization Committee to add on average at least 1,000 pages of new and rare content online each of the next four quarters. We are well on track to meet that goal in the fourth quarter with a planned December release. The Digitization Committee looks to actively acquire, including purchase, rare archival material that is well suited towards its research and presentation goals.

Finances

In our quarter ending September 30, 2013, the Library had earnings of $16,248.73 and expenditures of $6,526.38. Cash on hand increased to $62,818.59. Slightly over a 1/3 of our quarterly revenue was donor earmarked to expand our library holdings and digitization project. The majority of our expenses year to date occured in the third quarter as our Digitization Project takes hold. A goal this coming year is to continue to grow our revenue, our program expenditures, and our cash reserves. Additional information about our accounting procedures, governance philosophy, revenue, and expenses can be found on the International Arcade Museum Library Finances page.

Exhibits and Permenant Locations

As we increase our holdings and digitize, organize, and present same, our resources to draw upon continue to grow. This should serve us well in the future. Our search for a permenant location continues, though one of our biggest challenges is in determining what kind of facility we can afford and then in finding and funding it. It's hard to determine what level of community support would exist for something that doesn't exist yet at that scale. One way we will address that is to focus on smaller projects for the coming year or two and gaining strength, instead of just looking for the all-or-nothing big win.

Thank you

If you have any documents, photos, trade magazines, or other historically important archival pieces you wish to loan or donate please let us know. We are also looking for volunteers to assist in scanning material. And remember, as a 501c3 non-profit public charity, the Library is eligible for matching gift programs at many companies.

Thank you again for your support! Please feel free to reach out to us. We would love to hear from you.
