The Library, formed on September 9, 2009, has been open continuously since 2010.

Many archive materials are on-hand, and the rest may be retrieved from storage upon request. Most of the machine collections made available to us are at another location nearby or in the Pacific Northwest and are available (outside of special exhibitions) primarily to academics, researchers, journalists, and well-known enthusiasts.

The library's current hours of operation are generally Monday thru Friday, 9am to 5pm PST, though our actual hours of operation very based on the availability of our volunteers.

NO WALK-IN VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRANCE TO THE RESEARCH LIBRARY WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT. Appointments can be made in one or two hour blocks, and are available at no charge. Appointments are required and generally must be made at least two weeks in advance. This allows us time to schedule a researcher to assist you, and time to pull any relevant materials you might be interested that is stored offsite.

Please see the Visit us in Pasadena page on the International Arcade Museum site for more information.

When visiting the Library, be sure to enjoy an exhibit of machines made between 1880 and 2010 provided by Penny Arcadia™ and rotated on a regular basis. If your main interest in the Library is around entertainment, rather than research or reflection, you might wish to postpone your visit until our next exhibition or until our move to our next location. We are actively looking for new space, the timeliness of such move largely dependent on the success of attracting sufficient community support.
